What's Next?!

from the AP:
Cadbury says Chinese-made chocolate have melamine

A Cadbury spokesman says preliminary results show its Chinese-made chocolates contain the industrial chemical melamine.

How greedy and evil can people be?
Melamine can falsely elevate protein levels in foods. The most popular tests measure the protein content in a sample by measuring the nitrogen content. Since melamine is high in nitrogen, it looks like protein to these tests. The only problem is that it should be used to make countertops, not food.

First pet food, then baby formula, now candy bars, next...?

Dang! Got a link for this, Susan? Coz I'm a BIG fan of Cadbury's Fruit and Nut bars. I'd hate to think I'm ingesting melamine...

Never mind... Google is my friend. FWIW... from that same article:

Another Cadbury spokesman, reached through the company's London office, said there was no the contaminated chocolate could find its way into other countries because the factory only supplies Australia, Taiwan, Nauru, Hong Kong and Christmas Island.

I'm safe!

They better have it resolved by the time the Cadbury Eggs come out... I LOVE those!
I'm just wondering, since the raw materials for our food come from so many places, where are they going to find it next.
It's been a "protein booster" for years. Heads should roll for this practice.
