14 wonderful years

Stuntman enjoyed the anniversary gift that I gave him today.
Even though we rarely give gifts for our anniversary, we always sit and watch our wedding DVD and have a nice dinner together (if we happen not to be apart for work or war reasons).
The 14th Anniversary is the "Ivory" anniversary and he liked his bar of soap.

That made me smile... broadly!

Happy Anniversary, Susan! Many, many more...

Oh, that is so funny! I know I am sooo late, but Happy Anniversary... (And I hope he 'shared' his bar of soap!) :o) My husband and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary just before yours... as it has happened many times in our marriage, he was TDY. But he still called and said that something was bugging him. He KNEW he was suppose to do something that day but he couldn't remember what.

I told him that perhaps it was our anniversary and he said, "No, I would have remembered if that was it. Oh, well, I guess it wasn't THAT important."

To that I said, "Honey, I just wanted to let you know that I'm buying a new couch today. I know that you love the one we bought three months ago, but I found something I like SOOOOO much better."

Grumpily he said, "We can't afford another new couch. Why would you want another one?"

"Oh" I said rather sweetly, "Because the 'torture rack' that is taking it's place will be the perfect place for you to contemplate that thing you forgot today. You won't have anything to take your mind off all the other things cluttering your brain."

::long period of silence::

"Honest, honey, I didn't forget our anniversary. I, uh, was just searching for the right words to tell you that after 25 years, I'd still pick you."

"Yes, dear. That was so lovely of you to say... and when I hear it four years from now on our 25th wedding anniversary, it will bring a tear to my eyes. I have to go now. I have to look for just the RIGHT couch for you as a special anniversary gift. I truly want to put a lot of thought into the design."

My husband then says, "OK. I'm a schmuck. I forgot. The only thing that has been on my mind all week is that it sucks to be away from you and the girls. It's hot, murphy's law has struck me upside the head all week. I miss you and can't wait to get back home on saturday."

"Ok, you're forgiven. I miss you too."

Then I hear "Does this mean you won't go shopping for a torture rack?"

"Well, I was thinking about seeing what the inside of a Victoria Secret's store looks like... does that qualify as torture?"

:o)

That reminds me that I'll have to dig up an old post of marital advice I got from my mother in law. It is priceless. :o)
