We said our final goodbyes to Sparky today... end-stage renal failure.
Sparky, I knew that when you didn't notice the rooster in the vet's lobby, that you were very, very ill.
Almost thirteen years ago I saw you at the shelter. A timid, but obviously intelligent dog... stuck in a cage for over 6 months and terrified of your bully cellmate. We brought you home, let you into the back yard and you ran. and ran. and ran. I've never seen a dog with so much energy. Your vertical leap was amazing! You almost hit the ceiling every time the doorbell rang.
You were the healthiest dog that I have ever had. That's a good thing, since you turned into "Evil Sparky" when you saw the vet. It took him ten years until he became your friend.
After Pumpkin died last year, you began to show your age. You must have missed your friend. I didn't even think that you liked each other.
I'll miss your boundless energy and your cuddles (you pillow hog) :)

:( You all are in my thoughts.

Susan, I'm terribly sorry. I still have a profound sadness in my heart over losing Oscar and it's been over a year. I call Henry "Oscar" at few times a week and when I'm tired/distracted, I do it even more often.
There is nothing like a shelter dog, in my opinion, because they love you for the basics and appreciate all the extra "icing" more than most. They live in the moment and teach lots of good lessons.
I'm really sorry you're going through this again so soon. What a wonderfully long life Sparky lived...but isn't it strange how no matter how long it is, it's never quite long enough?
The photo of Sparky is stunning. Big {{Hugs}} from us.
Oh, Susan, I am so sorry. This post, and the beautiful pictures, made me cry. It sounds like your family and Sparky were both very lucky to have found each other. I'm thinking of you...
I am so sorry, Susan. Big hugs from all of us.
Thats sad! I love my dogs so much I can't imagine losing them. I'm sorry!
I'm so sorry. :(
Ohhh I'm so sorry. You never fully get over losing a special pet family member.
I'm so sorry. It's so hard to lose a pet. My thoughts are with you and your family.
I am very sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is always sad.
My condolences, too, Susan. I know what it's like to lose a lifelong friend -- we got my my last dog as a pup and she was 14 when we (TSMP, actually) put her down due to old-age complications. It took me quite a while to get over losing her. She was family.
I'm so sorry. You and your family (2 and 4 legged) are in my thoughts.
