a day at the Huntington

We went to one of my favorite places today. I'm glad that it's so close to home. (I wish that I lived within walking distance...but I'm not a bazillionaire)
The Huntington Library is a beautiful place. The art galleries are amazing, but we spend most of our time touring the 120 acres of botanical gardens. I have been there numerous times, and I don't think that I have seen everything.

A few photos from the recently-opened Chinese Garden:

A tunnel and a cave made with plants...Children's Garden again:

*update*
the rock formation (pic #3), is limestone from Lake Tai in China

Wow! I can see why you love this place... I would, too!

OK...just what IS that third photo? The large, orange-ish formation?

I don't know exactly what the 3rd photo is. It's a big rock, I think brought from China. There were several like it around the gardens, but this was the largest. I looked around for a plaque or something, but didn't see one. I was too busy chasing E3 to ask the nearby docent. If I find out, I'll update the post.

What a gorgeous place! I think I'd spend my time there too. Too bad we aren't bazillionaires, dangit.

If I find out, I'll update the post.

Thanks for that, Susan. The formation is just SO striking I had to ask...
